Bionic man

Harry and I were chatting on the phone this evening about Alastair's latest Spartan event – 58km run and 60 obstacles – that he completed yesterday in ten hours, and in third place for his age group.  There are several things that we cannot explain: how he has the stamina to finish these events when his 'training regime' seems almost non-existent; how his feet survive such punishment, which involves running most of the course in wet and muddy socks and trainers, without developing anything more than a bit of 'wrinkled skin' (Alastair's description); and how he is able to get up the next morning looking none the worse for wear (not even a slight stiffness was evident) and enjoy a day out with his brothers at an NFL game in London without boasting about his achievement.

We can only conclude that he is not made like normal people, and we wonder if he has bionic components.

Incidentally, the NFL game played today between the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham football stadium, was a birthday treat for Tom from his siblings and was, to Tom's delight, won by the Vikings 17-21.
