Graduation Day

As might be apparent from the big grins on our faces, Tom's Graduation Day held today at the Barbican was a joyous occasion. Mary's and my grins were even more expansive, if that is possible, as Tom's list of prizes were read out before he strode across the stage to shake the hand of Professor Jenny Higham, the Vice-Chancellor of St George's Hospital.

Mary's choice of venue for a celebratory post-ceremony meal, Berners Tavern, W1, where we were joined by Harry (but not Alastair unfortunately who is currently enjoying a two weeklong 'Battle Camp' at the Army Training Camp in Pirbright), was perfect.

Congratulations Tom!

Completion Day

Yuri's description of Tom's and her first house as 'quirky' is apt. A Grade II listed shop in the centre of Salisbury that has been beautifully converted into a two bedroomed house, it has a wonderful selection of rooms with old beams and floors, ceilings and walls that pride themselves on being not quite straight, a treacherous stairway that is going to provide hours of fun when new furniture arrives, a beautifully appointed kitchen and an outhouse that is going to be a perfect office. For a first home, I feel that its purchase has been remarkably free of the usual headaches, although Tom and Yuri may not agree.

Completion was today and the happy couple have managed to move in with the minimum of essentials (including a sleeping bag and mat!) before Tom starts work at Salisbury Hospital on Monday. Yuri has an interview soon for a Physician Associate position in the Accident & Emergency Department at the same hospital.
